Where, how and when ?
To help us deliver the plant in perfect condition we ask
that you choose carefully from the "Where:" and "How:" options on the delivery
details section of the order form. You can then choose your delivery
date. (When you enter the order form the next available weekday delivery date
will be displayed, and to choose your own date press the button marked 'change'
next to this date).
Where do we deliver?
We deliver to postal addresses in the UK - England,
Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland including offshore. We also delivery by Royal
Mail to the Scilly Isles and Channel Isles. For detailed information about how
we divide up the UK by postcode please click here
It's your choice
We offer a choice of delivery methods on each present -
some guaranteed next day and some not. Which one is best for you will depend on
a number of things such as whether a signed receipt is needed, whether you need
a guaranteed delivery day, and the day of the week that it is to be delivered.
If you do not make a choice the top option will be selected.
Our Advice
We want our plants to arrive in peak condition, which means spending minimum
time in the box. Therefore we would recommend you avoid Monday deliveries,
unless there is a very special reason, because they are despatched on Friday.
(The same thing applies on a Tuesday after a Bank Holiday).
Please don't choose an option which needs a signature, if you think there will
be no one available to sign. It means the plant goes back to the depot for
redelivery on the next working day.
Here are the options explained in more detail....
First Class Post
This has some advantages if you don't need to be sure of
delivery on a particular day. It is the cheapest option for our lighter plants
and in many areas a postman will have the local knowledge to know where to
leave a parcel if no-one answers the door. It is also a good option for areas
which would normally attract a courier surcharge (eg Isle of Wight). However we
cannot completely guarantee next day Delivery. We can only say that over 92% of
first class packets are delivered on the next working day according to national
statistics. Unfortunately we cannot take responsibility for any deterioration
in the plant(s) if Royal Mail deliver late for whatever reason..
Royal Mail Special Delivery
We have found Special Delivery to be very
reliable. However it is very expensive for heavier plants such as olive trees
and citrus trees. Also if there is no-one to sign for the box it could languish
in a depot until it can get picked up. So if you are sending to working people
you need to know whether there is a neighbour who could sign for the plant
(remember to put this in the Notes box on the order form). Another option is to
send the plant to their work address.
Courier Delivery
Courier services provide a next day service, and we can
track it on the internet for you.
The options include:
-Overnight Delivery Monday to Friday . Monday's deliveries are despatched
Friday , therefore it is best to avoid monday deliveries if possible.
-Overnight Delivery Saturday morning (premium charge)
-Overnight Monday to Friday Isle of Wight, Northern Ireland, Isle of Man
(premium charge)
-Overnight Monday to Friday Scotland (some areas carry surcharge)
Each of these options have a separate price, which you will find on the order
form when you have chosen your present.
What happens if they are not in?
There are two options on the courier delivery "Signature
Required" and "No signature required" (sometimes shortened to "Unattended
Delivery". If you choose "Signed Receipt" or "Signature Required" then the
courier will not deliver if they get no answer, and the plant will be returned
to the depot. So if there is any doubt in your mind about whether someone will
answer the door (9am to 6pm) then it is best to choose "No signature". This
means that the driver has permission to leave the plant in a sheltered spot or
with a neighbour if no-one is in. If there are specific instructions please
enter them in the 'Notes' box on the order form.
Making things go smoothly
Please ensure that you enter the full address including
the postal code of the recipient and the correct post town. For courier
delivery it is very useful to have the telephone number of the recipient so
that we can contact them as a last resort.
Delivery Failures
Should the recipient be away at the time of delivery, a
card will be left stating attempted Delivery The recipient will then have to
collect the package from the local delivery office or arrange for re-Delivery
Unfortunately there is no recompense for deterioation due to non-Delivery
Saturday Delivery
If you need a Saturday delivery it is available by post
and courier, for a premium. Note you cannot choose a Saturday delivery date on
the order form unless you first select a Saturday delivery method.
Saturday special delivery is the cheaper option for lighter plants like orchids
and herb trios but please be aware that special delivery does need a signature.
The postperson will try a neighbour if you they can't get an answer, but they
are not able to leave the box unattended and if there is no one available to
sign for the plant they will return it to the depot for redelivery on Monday.
Business Addresses
Plants sent to hospitals, military bases and business
addresses will be delivered to a main reception or mailing room prior to
internal distribution. We recommend that plants sent to these locations be
requested for delivery on a weekday and not on a Saturday.
Last Minute Orders
We would recommend that you order in good time so that we
are able to pick the very best fresh plants that will be looking good on the
day. If you have a last minute order, however, we can usually despatch on the
day you order if you order Monday to Friday before 3pm. Remember that is the
despatch day - the delivery day varies according to day of the week and the
service chosen.
Deliveries to more distant areas.
There are some parts of the UK where the delivery can take
longer, or cost more, or where some delivery services are not available. So
before choosing the delivery service on the order form please choose the region
you are sending to from the drop-down list in the box labelled "Where".
